I believe that this image shows 南京路, Nánjīng lù, north of 中山广场, Zhōngshān Guăngchăng, "Zhongshan Square" (or: "Sun Yat-sen Square"). The camera is facing northeastward. The trolleybus is working Line 5.
Note the street sweeper, with broom, at left.

The camera is facing northeastward in 中山路, Zhōngshān lù. The trolleybus, to the left of the 友谊商店, Yǒuyì shāngdiàn, "Friendship Store," is signed for Line 5.

I believe that this image shows 总站路, Zǒngzhàn lù ("Terminal Road"). The camera is facing eastward, and the trolleybus is working Line 5.
Satellite images suggest that this is very much a "vanished scene."
